BIOGRAPHY

Ai Kakihira is a musician originally from Nagasaki Prefecture and currently based in Tokyo. Her sound is a unique psychedelic blend, skillfully incorporating elements of house, techno, world music,  ambient , disco, soul, and dream pop. With delicate vocals and melodies infused with the beauty of the Japanese language, her music is memorable and transports listeners into a fantastical world through rich layers of sound and intricate arrangements. Additionally, she is active as a producer and remixer, providing music for various visual media productions such as documentaries and advertisements. She also actively collaborates with overseas artists from Taiwan and Australia, and in May and November 2024 released the two-part EP IN and MAKUNOUCHI through London’s Gearbox Records.

長崎県出身、東京在住。ハウスやテクノ、民族音楽、アンビエント、ディスコ、ソウル、ドリーム・ポップなどの要素を巧みに取り入れたサイケデリックな独自のサウンド、日本語の響きを生かしたメロディと繊細な歌声は耳に残りやすく、豊かな音のレイヤーと緻密な編曲によって、幻想的な世界へと誘う。プロデューサーやリミキサーとしても活動しており、他のアーティストのサポートやドキュメンタリー、広告などの映像作品にも音楽を提供している。 台湾やオーストラリアなどの海外のアーティストとも積極的にコラボレーションを重ねており、2024年5月、11月にはロンドンのギアボックス・レコーズから二部作EP『IN』『MAKUNOUCHI』をリリース。
