BIOGRAPHY

Ai Kakihira is a musician originally from Nagasaki and currently based in Tokyo. Blending elements of house, techno, world music, ambient, disco, and soul, she creates a sound infused with her unique Asian sensibility. Through delicate vocals and melodies that reflect the beauty of the Japanese language, her music draws listeners into a vivid and shifting inner world. Additionally, she is active as a producer and remixer, providing music for various visual media productions such as documentaries and advertisements. 
In 2024, she released the two-part EPs IN and MAKUNOUCHI through London-based Gearbox Records.
In 2025, she won the Grand Prix at the “Sasebo Sound Chronicle Award,” judged by artists including Shuta Hasunuma and Kuniyuki Takahashi.
She continues to expand her activities globally through performances in Taiwan and Thailand, as well as collaborations with international artists.

長崎県出身、東京在住。
ハウス、テクノ、民族音楽、アンビエント、ディスコ、ソウルなどを横断しながら、独自のアジア的感性を織り込んだサウンドを展開している。日本語の美しさを感じさせる繊細なボーカルとメロディーによって、色彩豊かに揺れ動く幻想的な世界へとリスナーを誘う。プロデューサーやリミキサーとしても活動しており、他のアーティストのサポートやドキュメンタリー、広告などの映像作品にも音楽を提供している。
2024年、英Gearbox Recordsより二部作EP『IN』『MAKUNOUCHI』をリリース。 2025年、蓮沼執太氏やKuniyuki Takahashi氏らが審査員を務める「Sasebo Sound Chronicle Award」でグランプリを受賞。 台湾やタイでの公演、海外アーティストとの共作など、グローバルに活動を展開中。
